Birmingham for the Weekend

Due to Miss Avery's arrival, we really didn't think it would be fun to try to take a summer vacation this year, but we didn't want the girls to feel like we didn't take them anywhere so we headed to Birmingham, AL for a weekend.  We visited the zoo and children's museum, and the girls had a great time!

Makenzie pretending to be a meteorologist.  They had the green screen for her to stand in front of, and she could read from the prompter, then you could sit and watch yourself forcast the weather on the video play-back.  Very neat.

I highly recommend the Birmingham Zoo and the McWane Science Center.  Our kids had a blast.

Kindergarten Graduation

Wow...where has the time gone?  It's hard to believe that Makenzie is 6 years old and graduating from kindergarten.  Maybe my hormones are off from having Avery, but I really didn't realize how emotional I would be this week!  I fought tears all week as Makenzie's class celebrated graduation.  Looking back at the time she's spent at SCS and how much she's learned not to mention how much she's grown, just blows my mind.  I just happened to walk into the gym at school one morning the week of graduation, and I watched as Makenzie's class led the entire school in worship.  The kids were practicing for graduation, and I stood there with tears streaming down my face as they sang.  Hearing the entire school join them was amazing, and I could feel the Lord's presence surrounding us all.  I walked out of there that morning thanking God for SCS, the teachers and staff, who so diligently show my children the love of God each day.

Graduation was adorable.  The teachers went above and beyond to make it a special occasion.  They asked each child what they wanted to be when they grew up and then took their pictures (portraying themselves as teacher, firemen, etc.) and framed them to display.  Makenzie of course wanted to be a hairstylist like her Aunt KK.  My little fashionista insisted on wearing gold sparkly shoes with her graduation gown lol.  Love it!

Makenzie received a special award for memorizing over 50 bible verses this year.  They sang the songs they'd learned and recited a poem about the place they'd go (based on Dr. Seuss) then we watched a video with their baby pictures and scenes from the past year.  I'm surprised I kept it together throughout the whole thing lol.  Such a great night!

Makenzie, Mommy and Daddy are so very proud of you and the young lady you're becoming.  Hearing you quote scripture and watching you sing blesses us more than you'll ever know.  We hope you'll continue to grow in the Lord and continue to "do your best work" in all that you do. We love you sweet girl!

Avery- 2 Months Old

9 lbs. 13.6 oz. & 22.5 in.

Avery is really starting to show her little personality.  She's smiling and cooing at us, and we just LOVE it!  You should hear Wayne talk to her trying to get her to smile.  It is sooo sweet! She's also really starting to hold her head up well.  She has slept through the night since she was 4 weeks old and is eating about 4 oz. every 3 hours.  She is such a good baby. We really couldn't ask for her to be better.  We are truly blessed!

Presley's 5th Birthday!

I can NOT believe my baby girl is 5!! She was so excited for this birthday to arrive.  She planned her party months in advance, and although she changed her mind every other day lol, she finally decided she wanted to have her party at Jilly Bean's Pail of Paint.  We invited 10 of her closest friends and cousins to join in the fun!

Presley, Mommy and Daddy are soo proud of you! You are such a good big sister to Avery and so very loving.  You did an amazing job in K4 this year and even earned a special award for being so helpful in the classroom. You have grown so much this past year, and especially with the arrival of Avery, we've noticed how much you truly have become a little girl and not so much our baby anymore.  We hope you will continue to live life like there's no tomorrow, that you'll continue to find such joy in the little things.  Your smile and laugh light up the room and you have brought such happiness to our lives.  We love you so very much!

Muffins for Moms

Presley's K4 class invited all the Mommy's to have muffins at the school on the Friday before Mother's Day.  Presley kept hinting at a surprise the week before, and I'll never forget the love and excitement in her eyes as she brought me the invitation to have muffins with her at school.  When the big day came, she reminded me over and over again to be on time lol.  She was so worried that I would forget our special day.  I had to tell her over and over again that her Mommy would never forget such a special occasion.

The teachers decorated the lunch room and each mother/daughter had their own place setting complete with muffins and juice, a mother's day poem, and some special things each child made for their Mom.

I just LOVED the vase Presley made for me!

The kids finished off our time together by singing a couple of special Mother's Day songs for us.  Such a cute idea and such a sweet gesture.  Have I mentioned how thankful I am for my kids' school and their teachers?  I don't think we could ask for a better place to send our children to school. Not only are they getting a great education, but they are learning and growing in the Lord as well. Sooo very blessed!
