Makenzie's First Ballet Class!

Look at my little girl go! Her teacher was quite impressed that she could do some of this stuff already, and here I thought the child was just making this stuff up! Turns out she saw somebody doing ballet on television and was imitating them...go figure! lol! More pictures below of her fun night!

Getting ready at Aunt Hanna's house
Meeting her teacher, Miss Megan, and getting ready to dance.
Walking the line on her toes
Twirling with Miss Megan
Walking on her toes again
I think I should have put her in the 3 year old class because when we got there tonight, there were only two other little girls in her class and both are under two still (one is only 18 months). The other two children cried the entire time and wanted their Moms to hold them while my child took right to Miss Megan and began to dance. I don't want to pull her out of this class and swap her to the other because for one, Miss Megan was awesome. She's an amazing girl who took up with Makenzie and practically gave her a private lesson since the other two kids cried the whole time, and two, if I pull her out they might close the class since there will only be two little girls left. Needless to say, Miss Megan will be moving her up to the 3 year old class by January at the latest maybe sooner depending on how the next few weeks go. Makenzie did great, but I think the crying children were a distraction. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about them crying at all...they're just kids (little ones at that), and Makenzie could have acted the same way! I just hope they'll get more comfortable in the next few weeks and be able to have fun with Makenzie. It is such a fun little class, and Makenzie learned so much from just tonight. I wish you could have seen how excited she was and how grown up she acted! The other Moms kept asking me how old she was and couldn't believe she was only two. I just smiled and said, you should see my other child! She would turn this room upside down! Lol! I don't think I have the guts to let Presley try this..haha!

Presley Runs From the Camera! :(

Well....I TRIED to get some cute pictures of Makenzie and Presley today, but Miss Presley didn't want to cooperate. When she saw the camera come out she started crying and ran away. I finally talked her into standing by Makenzie so that I could get a picture of them together, and all she would do is stand there with her fingers in her mouth. If I tried getting her to take them out she ran off and cried...needless to say, I gave up! She's never done this before so who knows...bad mood, bad day? No clue!
I told them to make a silly face, and Makenzie understood, but Presley just looked at me like I was nuts..lol! Check out those big ole eyes though!

Makenzie's Rainbow Conversation

We were having a hard time getting Makenzie settled into bed the night before last, and since I haven't been home as much since school started I decided to talk with her a little bit before making her go to bed. She was lying in bed with me sitting beside her when she told me she'd seen a rainbow that day (it had rained all day long). I asked her if she knew who put the rainbow in the sky, and she looked up at me, put her finger on her chin like she was thinking, and said, "Um, I think it was my Daddy". It melted my heart, and I couldn't help but smile. I told her that we could ask her Daddy if he put the rainbow in the sky so we called Wayne back to her room. When she asked him about the rainbow, you could tell he was really touched that she thought he had the ability to put a rainbow in the sky for her. He went on to explain that God puts rainbows in the sky and why. It was the sweetest thing, and it really was a blessing to get to have that conversation with our daughter.

Getting Ready for Ballet and Tap

We signed Makenzie up for ballet and tap lessons last week, and she is sooo very excited about it! We tried on her little black leotard and tap shoes the other night, and I couldn't resist taking pictures of her as she "danced" around the living room. Her first class will be next Thursday so I'll definitely try to post more pictures later!
She tells us this is how you do ballet, and then she twirls (see picture below). I wish I could get a picture of what she does next, but she never holds it long enough for me to get the picture. She does some kind of thing where she balances on one foot and calls that ballet...it's hilarious!!!

This is what she calls tap..haha..she loves the sound her shoes make, but I'm afraid for my floor!
Oh, this has nothing to do with her dancing, but I just had to share it...last night she sneezed, and I, of course, said bless you, but then I asked her what she was supposed to say when she sneezed, and she looked up at me and said, "I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!" I fell out laughing! Heck, I'm still laughing!

Big Girls

Our girls are growing up faster than we want them to! It seems like yesterday we were holding them for the first time, but now they're continually developing unique personalities and learning new things every day it seems. They love each other sooo much, and have such a good time with each other. I love to watch them play and hear them giggle at each other.
We started a bed-time tradition a few months ago when we felt Presley was able to start saying her bedtime prayers with Makenzie. We'll take both girls and put them in Makenzie's bed. We all say our prayers together ( Yes, Presley has learned to say it too and will say it right along with Makenzie--so cute!), and then we all give each other goodnight kisses. After they finish saying their prayer, Makenzie leans over and gives Presley a kiss and says, "Goodnight Pres", and then Presley leans over and kisses Makenzie and says, "night night". It is so sweet, and I am so thankful that our girls love each other so much. After kisses from Mommy and Daddy it's time for bed. Well, a few nights ago after prayers and kisses, Makenzie asked if Presley could sleep with her. Wayne and I just looked at each other like yea right, but we decided to try it and see what happened. We were blown away when after twenty minutes there hadn't been a peep out of that room. We were discussing how crazy it would be if they had gone to sleep when we heard Makenzie say, "Mommy, I think Presley needs to sleep in her own bed." I got tickled and went in to see what the problem was, and when I walked in they seemed fine so I asked her. She said Presley needed to go to her own bed because she (Makenzie) couldn't get to sleep. I asked her why, and she said, "because she keeps rubbing my hair!" I looked and sure enough, Presley was laying there with her eyes closed, holding her blanky with her finger in her mouth, and stroking Makenzie's hair with her other hand! It was sweet, but it was keeping Makenzie awake so we moved Presley back to her own room... so much for that! lol!
Presley had her fifteen month check-up today, and the poor baby had to have three shots (ugh!). She was sooo pitiful, and I felt so bad for her. Makenzie kept kissing and hugging her and telling her it was ok. She's such a great big sister! Since Makenzie went to the Dr. with us, and Presley was getting weighed, I had them weigh Makenzie as well just to see who was bigger. I thought for sure by this point that Presley probably out- weighed her! Drum roll please......Makenzie weighed 24.5 lbs and was 35 1/2 inches tall. Presley weighed 24.0 lbs. and was 33.0 in. tall! I couldn't believe it..haha! Presley is now in the 75th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for height. She has gained two pounds and grown three inches since May...amazing! They didn't check percentiles for Makenzie since it wasn't her appt., but I checked her baby book, and she gained two pounds since January, but hasn't gotten any taller. I do believe Presley will bypass her by Christmas at the rate she's going...lol!
This is Presley's pitiful face after those awful shots. My poor baby girl was NOT happy with those nurses, and she kept giving them dirty looks which was hilarious! They got sooo tickled at the looks she gave them, but they felt bad too! At least she didn't throw one of her famous temper tantrums, and she just wanted me to love on her. She was fine after a few minutes though thankfully, and both girls fell asleep on the way home. They were sooo worn out from their busy day which started with play time at Emma Grace's house. They had a fun time as usual, and loved visiting with their cousins. Presley kept saying, "Baby!" every few minutes and kept trying to love on Ellie Kate. Thanks girls (and Jan) for a fun morning...they are all such sweet cousins and love each other sooo much!

Kids Say the Darndest Things! LOL

Words can not describe the love I have for my sweet girls! I am filled with laughter all day as I play with them and watch them interact with each other. They are a mess, and lately they've been saying and doing some pretty hilarious things! They love each other sooo much and play so well together, thank God! Presley is cutting all four molars at the same time so she has been drooling like crazy which is why the front of her shirt is so wet in the picture above. She no longer "walks", she runs-everywhere she goes, no matter how close or far away! I get so tickled at her when those little legs go high-tailing it down the hall or through the living room. She and Makenzie play "house" all day with their babies, and Presley has started adding more and more words to her vocabulary. Her new words are baby, puppy, cool, whoa, wow, and sissy. She also has started to sing songs like "Old McDonald", "Itsy Bitsy Spider", and the "Sha La La" song off of the Little Mermaid. She's always dancing. She also surprised me today when she went to the wall, put her head against it, and said, "one, two, three!" then ran off. I was soo in shock at her counting that it took me a minute to realize that she and Makenzie were playing hide-n-go seek! Amazing!
Makenzie loves to sing and dance as well, and she'll be starting ballet and tap lessons later this month. She's sooo excited! She's also finally fully potty trained...yea!!! As for the funny things she's been saying and doing...just to give you an idea, last night while we were eating dinner at church she told me she had to go potty. When she was finished I was pulling up her pants, and she said "Mommy". So I said, "What?", and she said "Mommy". Again I said, "What, Makenzie", and she said, "Mommy". By now I was getting kind of frustrated so I looked at her and said, "Makenzie what do you need?" She looked up at me with that mischevious smile on her face and said, "I just driving you crazy, Mommy!" I stood there, mouth hanging open, trying not to get tickled, wondering where in the world she had picked that up! THEN...this morning when she woke up she came into the living room to get her cup and watch cartoons. I went to get Presley up and change her, and when I came back in I noticed Makenzie had something around her mouth so I asked her what she'd been eating. She told me she'd had cookies. We ate dinner at church last night, and I'd made chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies among other things to take with us, and Wayne brought them in last night and sat them on our table. Apparently, she climbed up to the table, saw the cookies, and decided to eat as many of them as she could because when I looked to see how many there were, she'd eaten all but one chocolate chip cookie and the remaining oatmeal cookies! So, needless to say, I guess she had about 3-4 cookies for breakfast! Great! I had to explain to her that she has to ask Mommy first before she gets something to eat and that we don't eat cookies for breakfast...oh, the joys of parenthood! :)
